Safety First When it Comes to Cars! What to Buy This Year

If you have been considering speed, performance, look, or features when it comes to choosing your car, you are not alone. This behaviour is common in most car buyers, but many car buyers with families are now concerned about safety more than anything else. Technology and car companies are not disappointing those looking for safe cars, as vehicles are now safer than they have ever been.

One of the aspects that safety-conscious buyers now look for is driver-assistance equipment ie; lane departure warning systems, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability programmes. Another new feature is autonomous emergency braking- a feature designed to assist drivers to prevent collisions by automatically bringing the car to a halt.

The European New Car Assessment Programme assesses each of the cars produced in the region and allots scores based on aspects such as: Adult occupant protection, Child occupant protection, Vulnerable road user protection, and Safety Assistance. Accordingly, each car is given a score and a star rating.

Here are the cars that have scored the highest in 2019.

 Mazda 3

The Mazda 3 is a fourth generation vehicle that has broken safety records this year with a 98% Adult Occupant Protection rating. The car is beautifully designed and comes with a built-in accelerator and braking system that prevents drivers from getting too tired during a traffic jam.

The car also offers a number of other features such as intelligent speed control, rear cross-traffic alert, and autonomous emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring.

Volkswagon T-Cross

This beauty does not fall far behind and is a gorgeous SUV, competing with other top brands this year. The best part is that it is also competitively priced, so it won’t necessarily be out of your budget. With a high 97% as an Adult Occupant Protection rating, the car is robust and can easily prevent crashes or minimise damage in the event of one.

The car has amazing features such as pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, and others which have helped it be a favourite amongst car buyers making safety a priority.

The Lexus UX is definitely a must-buy for motorists who are in love with the brand. It’s a smaller more compact version of the larger SUVs in the brand’s range and is also an economy buy. The beautiful car comes with features such as adaptive cruise control, road sign assistance, and lane-keeping assistance amongst other features.

The Adult Occupant Safety rating is a huge 96%, which means that the car is pretty safe and effectively manages accident prevention. It is also considered safe for children with a 86% ranking.

The future is already at large in the UK. The electric Tesla has set a record for a Safety Assist score of 94%  because of its Collision-Avoidance Assist System, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Warning. The Adult Occupant Rating is 96%.

The car has a sleek body and has a touchscreen spanning 15-inches. The best part of the deal is that the car is affordable- which means it can be parked on your driveway without much effort.

Toyota Corolla

One of the old-time classics, the Toyota Corolla has hit the UK market again. The car is now super polished and comes with a fully facilitated safety kit. The Adult Occupant Rating is 95% and the Child Occupant Rating is a commendable 85%.
